Flamenco and Sevillanas Lessons

Join authentic Spanish dance classes with Maria Robles. We offer weekly courses for both beginners and advanced students in Utrecht, The Hague and Amsterdam.

Flamenco Classes
Learn expressive flamenco technique. In these classes we work systematically on rhythmic footwork (zapateado), flowing arm movements (braceo), rhythm and timing (compás), and a proud posture.

Sevillanas Classes
Sevillanas is a festive, lively folk dance from Andalusia. In these classes you'll learn the four fixed parts (coplas) of this traditional couple's dance, including the correct timing, steps and coordination.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. I've never danced before. Can I join?
Absolutely! Our beginner classes are perfect for complete beginners. We also offer dedicated classes for intermediate and advanced dancers.

2. Do I need special shoes or clothing?
Wear comfortable clothing and shoes with a sturdy, closed heel of approximately 3–5 cm (1–2 inches). We do not recommend stiletto heels or shoes with grippy rubber soles.

3. Do I need a dance partner for Sevillanas?
No. You can register individually. During the classes, partners rotate regularly, giving you the opportunity to dance with different classmates.

4. Where are the classes held?
Class locations and schedules may vary by season. Please check our current timetable on the website for the exact studio locations in Utrecht, The Hague, and Amsterdam.

5. What's the difference between Flamenco and Sevillanas?
Flamenco focuses on individual expression and intricate rhythmic footwork. Sevillanas is a traditional four-part choreography, usually danced in pairs at festivals and celebrations.
